Published and sources checked · UK tax year 2026/27
Purpose and scope
We explain UK pensions, tax and retirement choices for general education. We do not give a personal recommendation, rank providers for commission or assess whether a particular action is suitable for a reader.
Sources
We prefer legislation and official information from GOV.UK, HMRC and the FCA, together with MoneyHelper guidance. Each guide lists the sources used. A link identifies the source of a rule; it is not an endorsement of this website by that organisation.
Dates and changes
The visible checked date records when sources were checked for that edition. It is not a promise that the rules have remained unchanged since then. Tax figures state their tax year. Before acting, check the linked official source and any terms from your pension scheme.
Our review policy is to check tax figures each April and revisit pages when relevant rules change. We update a checked date when the content is substantively checked, rather than automatically changing it on every visit.
Examples and calculators
Worked examples are illustrative, not advice. Calculators show their assumptions and exclusions. The income-gap tool excludes investment growth, fees, inflation and tax. Its percentage scenarios are arithmetic examples, not sustainable-withdrawal recommendations. The tax tool estimates additional Income Tax, not the first PAYE deduction a provider may make.
Authorship and review
Compliant Paraplanning Services Ltd is the publisher and takes responsibility for this edition. We do not claim independent regulatory approval or an external professional review. No commercial firm has paid for a recommendation on this educational edition.
Corrections
Write to the publisher at 99 Moray Park Avenue, Inverness, United Kingdom, IV2 7LS, marking your letter “At Retirement Guide — editorial correction”. Please identify the page and relevant source. We consider the evidence, correct material errors and update the page date when it is checked.
